Growing Capacity for Living with Change ~ Awakening Self Healing through Connection ~ In Service to Community and the Greater Earth Body

Moving for Resiliency

In Moving for Resiliency series’, we explore MOVEMENT AS MEDICINE for nourishing body, mind, heart and spirit.  Movement inquiries will include cultivating nervous system resiliency through unlocking patterns of constriction, following curiosity and wonder, writing, drawing, and remembering the song-lines of the body stories that weave our lives.  Inquiries are drawn from practices of Soul Motion, Authentic Movement and Somatic Experiencing.

Moving for Resiliency practice can support:

  • Finding deep stillness & relaxation as a source point for authentic movement to arise.

  • Bringing flow & fluidity to the emotional body through inner tracking.

  • Integrating and cultivating what brings you resource and rejuvenation.

  • A felt and sustained sense of embodied presence and awareness.

  • A more informed understanding of how the nervous system works and how to stay healthy.

  • Strengthening relationships and sense of community with others.

  • An overall sense of liberation & freedom that awakens creativity & purpose.

  • The ability to stay grounded while supporting others going through difficult times.

About the Practices Moving for Resiliency draws from:

Somatic Experiencing® (SE®) is a potent psychobiological method developed by Dr. Peter Levine for resolving trauma symptoms and relieving chronic stress. It resets the nervous system, restores inner balance, enhances resilience to stress, and increases people’s vitality, equanimity, and capacity to actively engage in life.

Authentic Movement is a simple open form of self-directed movement. It is usually done with eyes closed and attention directed inward, in the presence of at least one witness. Movers explore spontaneous gestures, movements, and stillness, following inner impulses in the present moment. The witness watches and tracks inner responses to the mover with the intention of not judging, but focusing on self-awareness.

Soul Motion® “Soul Motion is a conscious dance practice that views creativity as an inherent expression for every body. Nurturing and developing the awakening of stillness in every movement moment, Soul Motion supports this realization as a fully engaged expression. Courting relationships with another as a means for understanding self, it holds deeply and dearly to the dance as a dialogue with reality.” ~Vinn Arjuna Martí, founder of Soul Motion®
